Red Bull Air Race Poster Monument Valley is located in the Southwest of the US and straddles the northeast border of Arizona and the southeast border of Utah. It lies within the range of the Navajo Nation Reservation, and is accessible from US Highway 163. The Navajo name for the valley is Tsé Bii' Ndzisgaii meaning ‘Valley of the Rocks’. It is an area famous for its dramatic, colourful and iconic scenery of sandstone buttes, isolated red mesas and spires. The striking landscape has been captured in numerous photographs, television programmes, commercials and movies particularly Westerns. The Navajo people have lived here for centuries, enduring the harsh climate and rough terrain and preserving their traditions, their language and their way of life. The area is entirely within the Navajo Indian Reservation near the small Indian town of Goulding which was established in 1923 as a trading post and which now has a comprehensive range of visitor services.Fast Facts Population: 879 Longitude/Latitude: 37°0'38?N / 110°14'34?W.
