Rainbow Bridge National Monument

Rainbow Bridge is one of the world’s largest known natural bridges. Known to our Diné tribe as – Tsé’naa Na’ní’áhí – roughly meaning “rock span.”

We consider this space sacred and this formation is in our Diné creation stories, most notably with our Twin Warriors, Monster Slayer (Nayénzgan), and Born of Water (Tobadzîschíni). The Twin Warriors used this bridge as a crossing to seek out their father Sun (Shit’aa’ Jóhonaa’éé’).

Our neighboring Indigenous tribes consider Rainbow Bridge sacred as well and equally hold a sacred meaning in their stories.
