Chinle Arizona / Canyon De Chelly

A campground with 90 campsites, each with a park table, barbeque grill, and space to pitch a tent. Includes 3 restroom facilities that include sinks and flushable toilets, but no showers. No hookups are available, but a dumpstation is located in Loop 1.

RVs: Sites cannot accommodate vehicles more than 40 feet, including vehicles-in-tow. Full hookups are available in the surrounding areas of Gallup, NM; Monument Valley, UT; and Holbrook, AZ.

Tsaile, AZ / Dine College Area

A primitive area on the north side of the lake, bring your own firewood for a campfire.

RVs: No dumping. No Water-Fill up stations. No electric.

A camping permit is required by the Navajo Parks and Recreation Dept., you may contact them at (928) 871-6647 M-F, 8am-5pm.

Additionally, a Navajo Fishing License is required, you may purchase your fishing license at the local gas station at Navajo Route 12 and 64 or online at: ONLINE PURCHASE LICENSE

Wheatfields Lake, Arizona

Wheatfields Lake, Arizona

This lake runs parallel next to Navajo Route 12, about 10 miles south of Tsaile, Arizona. Situated in a higher altitude (7,293 feet) area straddling the ChuskaMountains, this area recieves the colder weather and gets the occasional snow drop. The campsite is across the road, west of the lake. Campsite features 2 vault restroom buildings, with each room for male and female. The restroom area will feature a portable outdoor hand washing station, permitting the weather and if the campsite is open.

CAMP ASAAYI / ASAAYI-BOWL CANYON LAKE

Asaayi Lake is situated in the high Chuska Mountains at an elevation of 7,528 feet. The road from Crystal, NM is a dirt road and will get muddy during the wet seasons of summer and winter. So be careful on this route as cellphone reception is non-existent or very spotty, depending on your provider. There is another route that is paved, you access this road just 3 miles north of Navajo, NM off Navajo Route 12 and this will be paved about 80% of the way, the remaining road is dirt.

There are vault style restrooms and ramadas available throughout the lake area.

RVs: Access is limited, as the road is small width-wise. Call ahead to verify your RV can fit. No dumping. No water. No electric.

As of May 10, 2022 — Camping is currently prohibited. Camp fires is prohibited due to extreme fire danger. DAY USE ONLY: Wednesday-Sunday 8am to 4:30pm. Entry fee $10 per vehicle and must have a valid NN Fishing License. As always in our beautiful lands and recreational areas, PACK IN & PACK OUT.

NARBONA PASS CAMPGROUND

An area designated as a day-use campground off the Navajo Route 32, about 7 miles east of Crystal, NM. A small rotunda is available for use. This area sits in a higher elevation around 8,721ft at its highest point in the Chuska Mountain, so the road and area see’s its very fair share of snow and icy roads. During the winter, this area may be snowed in.

RVs: No dumping. No water. No electric.

JWJ RV PARK & CAMPGROUND

A small sectional camping/RV parking area next to a trailer park. Area is about 1/2 mile south of the Tsehootsooi Medical Center and next door to the Window Rock High School right off Navajo Route 12 in Fort Defiance, Arizona.

QUALITY INN @ TUBA CITY RV PARK & CAMPGROUND

Centrally located in Tuba City  – behind the Quality Inn and near the Explore Navajo Interactive Museum, Tuba City Trading Post, and a cafe featuring the tastiest coffee, espresso & non-coffee beverages in the area!

RVs: There are modern amenities here. Electric hookups, restrooms with showers, water & sewer available. Picnic tables at each space.

Check in is at the hotel front desk at Quality Inn. Tip: most of the amenities available on-site require a key or access code, e.g. laundry room.
